STOP TA Clinic 6/10/24: Domestic Violence Homicide Reduction with LeTesha Davis Pyke of Ujima, The National Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community

This clinic is the first in a two part TA Clinic series on culturally responsive practices and Domestic Violence Fatality Review (DVFRT) presented by LeTesha Davis Pyke from Ujima. The first session will set the stage, providing an overview of Ujima, and a background on the need for culturally specific and culturally responsive services. LeTesha will provide opportunities to think about barriers for survivors of color as well as reasons for high homicide rates of victims in marginalized communities. STOP Administrators will learn how they can play a part in breaking down barriers for victims and reducing DV homicide, including how to develop and implement a culturally responsive state planning process.

In the session to follow, STOP Administrators will dive deeper into the DVFRTs, and how their findings and recommendations can be beneficial to include in implementation planning. The second session will provide a more in depth and practical look at implementing a culturally responsive DVFRT, and how to encourage engagement with communities on DV homicide reduction and fatality review.
