STOP Administrators have a unique opportunity to promote and support trauma-responsive practices in their states and territories through grantmaking and other strategies. One particularly difficult, but under-recognized, result of trauma is Dissociative Disorders and in particular Dissociative Identity Disorder (or DID), a condition that involves an alteration or confusion in one’s identity. In this STOP TA Clinic, the ALSO STAAR team hosts a conversation with Olga Trujillo, Director of Leadership Development, Visibility and Collective Healing with Activating Change, a national expert on recognizing and responding to DID. Olga explores how ongoing trauma can result in dissociative disorders for survivors of violence, how addressing it can be incorporated in trauma-informed services, and effective strategies STOP Administrators can implement to promote incorporation of DID responses in STOP-funded services and training programs.
